JAS’09 promises enhanced participation and business

Jewellers Association Show’09 (JAS 09), is slated to begin on July 24 at the Birla Auditorium, in Jaipur, spanning four days. It will be inaugurated at the hands of UDH minister Mr. Shanti Dhariwal amidst chief guest Tourism Minister Ms Bina Kak. Winners of JAS 09 Jewellery Awards would be felicitated on this ocassion.

The show is expecting to host around 25,000 exhibitors from across the world, showcasing a diverse range of products from loose colour gemstones, gold jewellery, coloured stone jewellery, diamond jewellery, silver jewellery, platinum jewellery, certified diamond jewellery, designer jewellery, kundan meena jewellery, Thewa, Sozo jewellery, traditional jewellery, contemporary and fusion jewellery; alongside companies related with jewellery machinery, tools, publication, packing businesses etc.

Exhibitors are indicating an optimistic outlook of good business JAS’09, as was last year. Jaipur jewellery has earned global popularity through the rare fusion of tradition and modernity bringing Jaipur an important position in the world jewellery map. Business activities of buying and selling are slated within the first two hours of the show i.e 10 am to 12 pm, while visitor traffic will be allowed thereafter.

Organisers are preparing and promoting this edition of JAS to increase business opportunities for the participants as well as promote knowledge sharing. It is promoting this edition of the show through unique media vehicles to reach out to the mass,- emails, tele calling, SMS services, promotions in leading jewellery magazines, updates distributed through Gems and Jewellery Council Mumbai across India and overseas; ensuring large participation. Unlike any show until today, the JAS-09 event related updates will be delivered via the mobile. Jewellers Association 09 coordinator Nirmal Bardia, said “With this facility, information related to exhibitors and visitors would also be flashed on the mobile handsets. This is the first ever mobile site of a jewellery show in the world.” Through this facility, video clips of JAS, show themes, pictures of gems and jewellery at the show, show updates will be delivered on the mobile handset, along with accommodation details, information about buyers and sellers.

Two seminars are being organised ta the show; one on ‘Benefit of fair trade in emerging markets’ to be addressed by Fair Trade Forum of India executive director I Mallikarjun and ‘Introduction to Currency hedging and USE’.

Organisers are working at arranging every convenience for the exhibitors and visitors, from accommodation, travel to on-site recreation and business facilities. Adequate security arrangements have been enhanced, and the The organisers have tied- up with an insurance company providing insurance cover at a low premium; a Rs. 1 crore coverage attracts a premium of Rs 4500. The official website of the show, www.jasjaipur.com has been enhanced with easy navigation methods and host of information including selecting the exhibitors and jewellery products of choice prior to visiting the show, view the floor plan, book exhibition space in advance, learn about accommodation and travel details to the venue.

Visitors have the opportunity to enter the show through a lucky draw ticket of Rs 400; everyday jewellery worth Rs 50,000 would be given as prize to the lucky draw. The mega prize on the last day will be jewellery worth Rs. 1 lakh.

JAS-09 will also host the JAS-09 Jewellery Design Competition aimed at promoting new design talent in Diamond and Color Gem stones across India. The theme of this year’s Poster of Jewellery Design Award Competition is ‘A journey through colours’. The design categories for this year’s entries were four- Wedding Jewellery Award for Bride (for Jewellers), Wedding Jewellery Award for Groom (for Jewellers), Casual Wear Jewellery Design Award (for Designer/Artisans) and lastly Fashion Accessories Design Award (for Designer/artisans). The winner will be awarded of over Rs.1.00 lac, sponsored by Derewala Jewellery Industries Ltd.
